Woody left Dru Hill to pursue a career as a solo artist and to focus on his ministry.
After the release of Dru Hill’s third album, “Dru World Order” in 2002, Woody, whose real name is James Green, decided to leave the group. His departure was initially announced during a live radio interview where the group was supposed to be promoting their new album. This moment was unexpected and left both the audience and his bandmates surprised.
Woody had always been open about his strong Christian faith, and he felt a calling to dedicate more time to his ministry work. He embarked on a solo career and released a gospel album titled “Soul Music” in 2004, which reflected his religious convictions and his desire to inspire through his music.
Despite his departure, Woody has reunited with Dru Hill on several occasions for performances and tours. The group’s dynamic has seen various changes over the years, with members leaving and returning at different points. Woody’s relationship with the group has been amicable, and they have shown support for each other’s individual endeavors outside of Dru Hill.
