Vector is stranded on the Moon at the end of the first “Despicable Me” movie.
In the film “Despicable Me,” Vector, whose real name is Victor Perkins, is the main antagonist who faces off against the protagonist, Gru. Vector is characterized by his orange tracksuit, his love for sea life, and his catchphrase, “Oh yeah!” He is a rival super-villain who manages to steal the Great Pyramid of Giza, which initially establishes him as a formidable opponent.
As the story unfolds, Gru attempts to outdo Vector’s heist by planning to shrink and steal the Moon. However, Gru’s plans are consistently thwarted by Vector, who is also interested in the Moon. The conflict between the two characters escalates when Vector kidnaps Gru’s adopted daughters, demanding the moon in exchange for their release.
The climax of the movie sees Gru rescuing the girls and reclaiming the shrunken Moon from Vector. However, in the midst of their confrontation, the Moon begins to expand back to its original size within Vector’s fortress, causing chaos. Gru and the girls manage to escape, but Vector ends up being launched into space when the growing Moon blasts through the roof of his fortress.
The last we see of Vector, he is shown to be alive but stranded on the Moon’s surface. He is humorously trying to get the attention of a passing satellite by waving, but to no avail. The film concludes without providing any further information about Vector’s fate, leaving his ultimate destiny a humorous mystery. It’s implied that he is left to live on the Moon indefinitely, with no apparent way to return to Earth.
