Bratz was a trend even before we were familiar with the usage of the word “Trend.” They were our favorite dolls growing up. We spent hours deciding what should be their next outfit.
We mixed and matched their miniskirts with baby tees and played around with their fancy accessories. It has been 20 years since Bratz dolls’ debut. And today, they are back as fashion trends. Irrespective of whether you are a Cloe, Jade, Sasha, or Yasmin, there are some looks that you just want to recreate.
There is something about Bratz outfits that is cute and empowering at the same time. Perfect for turning on the charm and girl next door vibe, here is a list of 10 cute Bratz dolls-inspired outfits for you to try on.
Bratz inspired outfits:
- The miniskirt outfits
The most frowned upon outfit by parents and the most adored outfit by teens is the miniskirt. A sign of rebellion, freedom, and ultimate chicness, miniskirts are Bratz doll wardrobe staples. They look fabulous in all materials- plaid, denim, leather. If you think you’re too old to pull off a micro-mini skirt or if you’re too young to be allowed to wear it, then you can wear it with stockings or leggings. Combine this with a chic tank top, a cool jacket, and sassy boots!
- The wide flared pants outfits
This was a particularly popular look with our Bratz outfits. Today, flare jeans have a high rise. In the early Y2K fashion, the pants were mostly low rise, which you fixed up with trendy belts. Each of these dolls has several bell-bottom jeans looks. All of them accompanied a charming t-shirt or a tank top. The long boot-cut jeans make you look taller too. Ripped flared jeans are even better. As the tagline goes, “Don’t theorize, accessories!” So, go all out with boots, hats, and purses.
- The faux fur coat look
The winter editions of the Bratz dolls were just as popular. Especially around Christmas time, they were on top of Santa’s lists for young girls. So, if you love faux fur jackets, then you’d love this outfit. Start with flared denim and a pastel-colored tank top. If you’re a fan of graphic tees, then get the ones that say “Angel” or “babe.” Then choose a faux fur coat that goes with the color scheme of your ensemble. As always, bedazzled belts, platform heels, a statement purse, and a cute beret are just welcome.
- The midi skirt look
If you have been a Cloe fan, then you may remember this look from your collection. An embroidered or patched-on denim skirt was a fashion must-have back in the 2000s. One common top style that was popular back in the day was the bell-sleeved blouse. It may seem a bit old school now. So, feel free to swap it with a cute sparkly spaghetti crop top. Remember, Bratz’s look is all about accessorizing stylishly. The boots, the bag, the scarf, the belt, maybe even a hat.
- The baby t-shirt outfits
Baby t-shirts are cute printed girly t-shirts that fit you snugly. Each of our wardrobes must have had a few of these growing up. For a Bratz-inspired look, coordinate a white baby t-shirt with a pair of short shorts, a mini denim skirt, or a plaid mini skirt. This outfit has a cheerleader kind of vibe that makes it very attractive. Bratz’s look was also a lot about elaborate hairstyles. So, you could wear two pony-buns or a ponytail with a pretty ribbon or scrunchie. This is as girlie as it gets!
- The turtleneck looks
Turtlenecks are truly timeless. Over the years, even Bratz dolls have had cool outfits featuring turtleneck tops. Sleeveless or half-sleeved or full-sleeved, there have been several variations. The colorful striped ones look particularly Y2K. But the plain ones are easy to find and style. For a high school look, a winter look, or a casual date look, the turtleneck tops look super cute. Wear them with miniskirts or flared pants and boots. For a sleeveless turtleneck, add a jacket to rock this Bratz doll-inspired outfit.
- The Yasmin-inspired look
Yasmin is a pretty princess with beautiful long hair and an hourglass figure that could give Sofia Vergara a run for her money. But when it comes to fashion, she loves an excellent bohemian blend. So, one cool outfit could- be a crop top with an earthy tone skirt or pants, a bohemian pouch purse, and a thick woven belt. Another option is wearing a red shimmering tube top with beige pants, with a cool boho bandana that brings the Bratz doll look together.
- Bedazzled t-shirt look
This is such a blast from the past! The bedazzled t-shirts were worn by Bratz dolls, celebs, high school girls, rockstars, and just about everyone. It was a phase indeed. For a Y2K Bratz look recreation, this may be a great outfit. Get a bedazzled tee from a vintage or thrift store and pair it with dark monkey-washed jeans. Going with the theme, add a chunky bedazzled belt too. A similar crop denim jacket would just be a cherry on top.
- The Capri pants look
Capris or long shorts were not that commonly seen on Bratz dolls. But occasionally, we did spot a couple of Capri pants, stone-washed jeans, and torn ankle jeans on our favorite dolls. And they were quite a thing in the early 2000s. A lot of celebs also sported these pants during that time. So, if you love to travel back in time sartorially, then give these pants a go. Bratz dolls were always seen wearing crop tees with such pants. Remember to carry a rugged crossover bag and wear a broad belt to make a statement.
- Crop top outfit
Almost all tops worn by the Bratz dolls have been crop, super-crop, or tube tops. And since Crop tops are anyway currently trending, they are perfect for you to turn into a Bratz doll-inspired outfit. Go for vibrant colors and textures as you pick your favorite crop top. Wear it on top of bootcut jeans or miniskirts. If a grungy, goth-like style is your thing, go for a black crop top and wear it with some fishnet stockings and a leather skirt. Chunky sandals or boots are always welcome!
