Filmed in Manitoba, Canada

Netflix’s 2026 adaptation of Little House on the Prairie was filmed primarily in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Production began in June 2025 and continued through October 2025, with the province standing in for the American frontier of the late 1800s.
Why Manitoba Was Chosen
Although the story is set in Kansas, the production team selected Manitoba because of its wide open prairies, historic landscapes, and rural scenery that closely resemble the American Midwest during the pioneer era.
The area also offers experienced film crews and has become a popular location for major television productions.
Where in Manitoba Was It Filmed?

The main filming location was Winnipeg, with additional prairie locations around Manitoba used to recreate the Ingalls family’s journey across the frontier.
Large outdoor sets, including the family’s farm and frontier town, were built to match the look of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books.
A Second Season Is Already Filming
Before the first season even premiered on July 9, 2026, Netflix renewed Little House on the Prairie for a second season.
Production for Season 2 also returned to Winnipeg, Manitoba, continuing to use the Canadian province as the series’ home.
