The Trailer Felt Surprisingly Familiar
Netflix recently released the trailer for The Last House, a mystery thriller arriving on August 7. The story follows a family that suddenly finds itself trapped inside its own home by an unknown force. With no way to leave, they must work together as food and supplies begin to run out.
While watching the trailer, it was hard not to think about another recent Netflix hit, The Eternaut.
Two Stories Built Around the Same Fear
At first, the two productions seem very different. The Last House centers on a single family trapped inside their home, while The Eternaut follows survivors after a deadly snowfall kills anyone who steps outside.
Still, both stories share the same terrifying idea. The danger is waiting outside, and the safest place becomes the one people normally want to escape.
Mystery Comes Before the Answers
Another similarity is how both trailers avoid revealing too much. Instead of explaining exactly what is happening, they slowly build tension and leave viewers asking questions.
That mystery is a big reason why The Eternaut attracted so much attention, and The Last House appears to be following a similar approach.
A Different Story With a Familiar Feeling
The Last House is not a remake or a sequel to The Eternaut. The stories are different, and each has its own mystery to uncover.
Even so, if you enjoyed the suspense, isolation, and survival elements of The Eternaut, the trailer for The Last House may give you that same uneasy feeling before the real story even begins.
