The Jedi Temple was seized by the Empire and repurposed after Order 66. It eventually became the Imperial Palace.
Following the execution of Order 66, which marked the near-extermination of the Jedi Order, the Jedi Temple on Coruscant fell into the hands of the newly formed Galactic Empire. Emperor Palpatine, formerly known as Darth Sidious, claimed the temple as his own and began a significant transformation of the structure. The once-sacred halls and archives of the Jedi were desecrated and looted, with many artifacts either destroyed or taken for the Emperor’s personal collection.
The temple’s exterior was largely preserved to serve as a symbol of the Empire’s power and the Jedi’s defeat. However, the interior was heavily modified to suit the needs of the Emperor and his new regime. The spires that once reached towards the sky, symbolizing the Jedi’s quest for enlightenment, were now overshadowed by the dark presence of the Sith.
The Emperor’s new residence, the Imperial Palace, was a fortress of political power and a hub for Imperial operations. It was heavily guarded and fortified, making it nearly impregnable. The transformation of the Jedi Temple into the Imperial Palace was a clear statement of the change in power and served as a constant reminder of the Jedi Order’s fall and the rise of the Sith-ruled Empire.
