Paul Sr. from Orange County Choppers is still active in the motorcycle industry and continues to run his business, although the company has faced various challenges over the years.
Orange County Choppers (OCC) was founded by Paul Teutul Sr. and his son Paul Teutul Jr. in 1999. The custom motorcycle shop in Newburgh, New York, gained fame through the reality television series “American Chopper,” which showcased the family’s dynamic and the process of building custom motorcycles. The show aired on the Discovery Channel and later on TLC, contributing to the popularity of OCC and the Teutul family.
Despite the success, the company has had its share of difficulties. Financial troubles led to the foreclosure of their original Newburgh location, and the company eventually moved to a new headquarters in Orange County. The relationship between Paul Sr. and his son Paul Jr. also became strained, leading to a legal dispute and Paul Jr. leaving to start his own motorcycle design company, Paul Jr. Designs.
Paul Sr. has continued to manage OCC, focusing on building custom bikes and branding merchandise. The company has also diversified its operations by venturing into the restaurant industry with the opening of the OCC Cafe. In recent years, the Teutuls attempted to reconcile their differences, and there was a revival of the “American Chopper” series in 2018, which aimed to showcase the renewed relationship and business ventures of both Paul Sr. and Paul Jr.
Despite the ups and downs, Paul Sr. remains a prominent figure in the custom motorcycle industry, and Orange County Choppers continues to operate, adapting to the changing market and maintaining a fan base that appreciates their unique motorcycle designs.
