Judge Acker retired, while Judge DiMango continues to serve on television.
Judge William M. Acker Jr. passed away on December 21, 2018, at the age of 91. He was a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1982, he served until his death, although he took senior status in 1996, which is a form of semi-retirement for federal judges.
Judge Patricia DiMango, on the other hand, is a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Kings County, New York, and currently serves as one of the three judges on the panel for the television court show “Hot Bench,” created by Judge Judy Sheindlin. DiMango joined the show in 2014 and has been a part of it since its inception. Prior to her television career, she was known for handling high-profile cases and for her innovative approaches to reducing trial delays. She retired from the bench in 2014 to focus on her television career.
