Humpty Dumpty betrayed Puss in Boots but later sacrificed himself to save the town of San Ricardo.
In the animated film “Puss in Boots,” Humpty Dumpty is initially introduced as Puss’s childhood friend. They grew up together in the orphanage of San Ricardo dreaming of finding the magic beans that would lead them to the Golden Goose. However, their friendship falls apart when Humpty tricks Puss into helping him rob a bank, which leads to Puss becoming an outlaw.
Years later, they reunite with a common goal to find the magic beans, which are now in the possession of the notorious outlaws Jack and Jill. Humpty Dumpty, along with Puss and a street-savvy cat named Kitty Softpaws, succeeds in stealing the beans and climbing the beanstalk to find the Golden Goose. However, it’s revealed that Humpty’s intentions were not entirely pure; he sought revenge on the town of San Ricardo for ostracizing him and planned to use the power of the Golden Goose for his own gain.
Despite his betrayal, Humpty’s character arc comes full circle when he realizes the error of his ways. In the film’s climax, the Golden Goose’s mother comes to retrieve her child, threatening the town with destruction. Humpty makes the ultimate sacrifice by letting go of the golden goose and falling from the bridge with it, turning into a golden egg to save the town. His act of selflessness redeems him in the eyes of Puss and the townsfolk, and he is remembered as a hero.
