Bowser becomes a gargantuan, uncontrollable force known as Fury Bowser due to the black goop corrupting him. Mario teams up with Bowser Jr. to collect Cat Shines to restore the Giga Bell, which allows Mario to transform into Giga Cat Mario and fight Fury Bowser. Eventually, they calm Bowser’s Fury and return him to normal.
In the game “Bowser’s Fury,” which is part of the “Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury” release for the Nintendo Switch, Bowser has been transformed into a more powerful and aggressive form due to a mysterious black goop that has taken over his body. This substance causes him to become Fury Bowser, a larger and more destructive version of himself, who intermittently awakens to wreak havoc on the world of Lake Lapcat, where the game is set.
As Fury Bowser, he is too powerful to be confronted directly at first. The landscape is dotted with lighthouses that have been extinguished by the black goop. Mario, with the help of Bowser Jr., who is concerned about his father, sets out to collect Cat Shines, which are the key to re-illuminating the lighthouses and weakening Fury Bowser’s influence.
The Cat Shines also serve to awaken the Giga Bell, a special power-up that transforms Mario into Giga Cat Mario, a form large enough to take on Fury Bowser in epic battles. Each battle occurs after a certain number of Cat Shines have been collected, and with each confrontation, Fury Bowser is temporarily subdued, allowing Mario to continue his quest to collect more Cat Shines.
The game culminates in a final showdown where Mario, in his Giga Cat form, must use all the skills and power-ups he has acquired to defeat Fury Bowser once and for all. After the final battle, the black goop is purged from Bowser’s body, and he returns to his normal self, albeit a bit dazed and confused about the events that transpired. The father-son relationship between Bowser and Bowser Jr. is also highlighted, showing a softer side to the usually villainous Bowser.
