Ashlee Simpson stepped away from the spotlight to focus on her family and other ventures. She has since returned to the entertainment industry with new music and television appearances.
Ashlee Simpson, who rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like “Pieces of Me” and her reality TV show “The Ashlee Simpson Show,” experienced a notable setback after a lip-syncing mishap on “Saturday Night Live” in 2004. Following the incident, she continued to produce music, releasing her third album “Bittersweet World” in 2008, which received mixed reviews.
In the years that followed, Simpson shifted her focus away from music to concentrate on her personal life. She married Pete Wentz, the bassist for Fall Out Boy, in 2008, and they had a son together before divorcing in 2011. Simpson later married actor Evan Ross, son of legendary singer Diana Ross, in 2014, and they have two children together.
During her time away from the music scene, Simpson also explored other creative outlets, including a Broadway stint as Roxie Hart in “Chicago” in 2009. She returned to television with her sister Jessica Simpson on the reality TV series “Ashlee + Evan,” which aired in 2018 and documented her life with her husband and their efforts to record new music together.
In 2020, Simpson and Ross released a joint EP titled “Ashlee + Evan,” marking her return to the music industry. Despite not reaching the same level of commercial success as her earlier work, the EP showcased her continued passion for music and performing. Simpson has also been active on social media, engaging with fans and promoting her projects, indicating that while she may have taken a step back from the limelight, she remains a figure in the entertainment world.
