Lucy and Felix steal the car and leave the group to fend for themselves.
In the 2018 post-apocalyptic thriller “Bird Box,” directed by Susanne Bier and based on the novel by Josh Malerman, the world is overrun by mysterious entities that cause people to commit suicide if they see them. Survivors must navigate the world blindfolded to avoid succumbing to the entities’ influence.
Lucy, played by Rosa Salazar, and Felix, played by Machine Gun Kelly, are two characters who join a group of survivors holed up in a house. As the film progresses, the group faces various challenges and losses. Amidst the chaos and the growing tension within the group, Lucy and Felix develop a relationship.
One night, after the group has managed to gather supplies and are considering their next move, Lucy and Felix decide to take their chances on their own. They steal the car that the group had been using for supply runs, which is equipped with proximity sensors and cameras to allow for navigation without seeing outside. Their departure is a selfish act, leaving the remaining survivors with fewer resources and little hope of using the vehicle for future supply runs or escape.
The film does not provide any further information about the fate of Lucy and Felix after they leave. Their ultimate fate is left ambiguous, and viewers are left to speculate whether they managed to survive on their own or if they eventually fell victim to the unseen entities that have devastated the world.
