Scooter does not appear in Borderlands 3 because he died in the previous game, Tales from the Borderlands.
In the Borderlands series, Scooter is a beloved character known for his catchphrase “Catch-A-Ride!” and his skills as a mechanic. His character was further developed in the Telltale Games spin-off, Tales from the Borderlands, which is considered canon within the Borderlands universe. In Episode 4 of Tales from the Borderlands, titled “Escape Plan Bravo,” Scooter sacrifices himself to save the other characters. During a mission to space, a piece of the spaceship breaks off, and Scooter stays behind to detach it, knowing that he won’t be able to escape. His last words are a heartfelt goodbye as he drifts off into space, making it clear that he does not survive.
As a result of his death in Tales from the Borderlands, Scooter does not appear in Borderlands 3, which takes place after the events of the spin-off. However, his legacy lives on through various in-game references and through his sister, Ellie, who takes over the Catch-A-Ride stations and mentions him occasionally. The game pays tribute to Scooter’s character, and his absence is felt among fans and characters alike.
