Michelle Hord’s daughter, Gabrielle Hord, tragically died in 2017. She was murdered by her father, Neil White, who was subsequently convicted of the crime.
Michelle Hord is a former NBC executive who faced an unimaginable tragedy when her seven-year-old daughter, Gabrielle, was killed. On June 6, 2017, Gabrielle was found suffocated in her bed at her home in New Rochelle, New York. Her father, Neil White, and Michelle Hord were going through a divorce at the time, and White had been staying at the home with Gabrielle.
On that fateful day, a nanny discovered Gabrielle’s lifeless body, and White was found with self-inflicted wounds, suggesting an attempted suicide. He was taken into custody and later charged with second-degree murder. During the trial, prosecutors argued that White killed his daughter out of spite towards Hord amid their contentious divorce. In 2019, Neil White was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
The loss of Gabrielle deeply affected Michelle Hord, who has since dedicated herself to honoring her daughter’s memory. She established the Gabrielle’s Wings foundation, which aims to help children in need by providing them with opportunities and experiences that Gabrielle herself would have enjoyed. Through her work with the foundation and her public speaking, Michelle Hord has become an advocate for victims of domestic violence and a voice for parents who have experienced the loss of a child.
