Dwight was exiled from the group by Daryl after the war against the Saviors ended. He went in search of his wife, Sherry.
In “The Walking Dead” TV series, Dwight, portrayed by Austin Amelio, was a high-ranking member of the Saviors who eventually turned against Negan, the group’s leader. His character arc saw him being a complex antagonist who was motivated by his desire to reunite with his wife, Sherry, who had also been a member of the Saviors but had fled from Negan’s control.
After Negan’s defeat and the end of the All Out War in Season 8, Dwight was spared by Daryl Dixon on the condition that he leave and never return. Daryl gave Dwight a chance to go find Sherry, as he understood Dwight’s actions were driven by his love for her and his desire to make amends for his past wrongdoings.
Dwight’s story continues in the spin-off series “Fear the Walking Dead,” where he crosses over into the narrative of that show in its fifth season. In “Fear the Walking Dead,” Dwight’s journey is focused on his search for Sherry, dealing with his past, and trying to become a better person in a post-apocalyptic world. His character development continues as he encounters new challenges and forms new alliances, all while holding onto the hope of reuniting with his lost love.
