Dead Island: Survivors was officially shut down and is no longer available to play.
Dead Island: Survivors was a mobile spin-off of the popular Dead Island series, developed by Fishlabs and published by Deep Silver. It was a tower defense game with elements of action role-playing, where players could set up traps and directly control heroes to fend off waves of zombies on various maps inspired by the Dead Island universe.
The game was released in July 2018 but didn’t manage to sustain a large player base or significant revenue. As a result, the developers decided to discontinue the game. On October 29, 2020, the official Dead Island Twitter account announced that Dead Island: Survivors would be removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and that the servers would be shut down on December 31, 2020.
Players who had installed the game could continue playing until the end of 2020, but no further updates or support would be provided. In-app purchases were also disabled, allowing players to use any existing in-game currency until the shutdown date. The closure of Dead Island: Survivors is part of a common trend in the gaming industry where online-dependent games may be discontinued if they are no longer financially viable for the developers or publishers to maintain.
