Dave Canterbury was replaced on “Dual Survival” after two seasons due to discrepancies found in his background and military claims.
Dave Canterbury joined “Dual Survival” as a co-host alongside Cody Lundin when the show premiered in 2010. The show featured the pair using their survival skills to navigate various challenging environments. However, after the second season, it was revealed that Canterbury had exaggerated his military record and background. Discovery Channel decided to part ways with him, and he was replaced by Joseph Teti in the third season.
The controversy arose when it was discovered that Canterbury had claimed to have more extensive military experience than he actually had. He initially presented himself as a retired U.S. Army Ranger and a veteran of the Gulf War, but it was later found that while he did serve in the military, his service did not include time as a Ranger or direct involvement in the Gulf War. This discrepancy was brought to light by members of the military community and was subsequently confirmed.
After leaving “Dual Survival,” Canterbury issued a public apology for misrepresenting his military service. He has since continued his career as a survival instructor, author, and the owner of the Pathfinder School in Ohio, which offers training in wilderness and survival techniques. Despite the controversy, Canterbury has maintained a following within the survivalist community and continues to share his expertise through various platforms, including YouTube and his books.
