Chiddy Bang, an American hip hop duo, split up in 2014. Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege and Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin formed the group in 2008, and they gained popularity with their mixtape “The Swelly Express” and the single “Opposite of Adults.” After their debut album “Breakfast” in 2012, they released a few more singles, but eventually, creative differences led to their disbandment.
The duo, consisting of rapper Chiddy and producer Xaphoon, met at Drexel University in Philadelphia and quickly made a name for themselves with their unique blend of hip hop, electronic, and indie music. Their energetic performances and clever sampling of artists like MGMT in their hit “Opposite of Adults” helped them gain a significant following.
After their initial success, Chiddy Bang continued to tour and work on new music. However, as time went on, the members began to pursue different directions. Xaphoon Jones wanted to focus more on production work for other artists and eventually left the group to do so. He has since worked with artists like Big Sean and Imagine Dragons.
Chiddy continued as a solo artist for a while, attempting to keep the Chiddy Bang name alive, but without the production element that Xaphoon brought to the table, it was challenging to maintain the same level of success. Despite the split, both members have spoken positively about their time together and the music they created.
The breakup of Chiddy Bang was a quiet one, with no major public fallout. Fans of the duo continue to enjoy their music, and both Chiddy and Xaphoon have left a lasting impact on the alternative hip hop scene with their innovative approach to the genre.
