Millions Found Her Overnight
Angela Nikolau’s Instagram account saw an enormous jump in followers after she and her fiancé, Ivan Kuznetsov, climbed the spire of the Empire State Building and unfurled a peace banner before getting engaged.
According to the latest social media tracking data, her account grew from about 1.17 million followers to more than 3.18 million in just a few days or day and a half actually.
More Than Two Million New Followers
The numbers show Angela gained more than 2 million followers, an increase of roughly 171 percent.
The biggest spike came immediately after videos and photos of the climb spread across news websites and social media around the world.
The Stunt Went Viral
The couple attracted global attention after climbing one of New York City’s most famous landmarks. While standing high above Manhattan, they displayed a banner that read:
“When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.”
After revealing the banner, Ivan proposed to Angela, and she accepted.
The pair were later arrested after safely coming down from the building.

Angela has been known for years as a rooftopper and photographer, often sharing dramatic images taken from the tops of skyscrapers around the world. However, the Empire State Building stunt introduced her to millions of people who had never seen her work before.
